Bafra is North Cyprus's one genuinely self-contained resort strip. It sits north-east of Famagusta, right where the road opens onto the Karpaz peninsula, and it consists of four large properties strung along kilometres of empty coast: Kaya Artemis, Noah's Ark, Concorde and Limak. There is no town around them, no high street, no rank of taxis outside the gate. That is why guests heading here book transport in advance — an Ercan airport to Bafra taxi is a solid hour on the road, and someone needs to be waiting at the end of it. Below are the times, distances and fixed fares from all three airports.

Where Bafra is and how long it takes from each airport

Bafra lies on the north-east coast, past İskele and Boğaz, on the road that continues into the Karpaz. The last 20 kilometres are almost empty — a beautiful drive in daylight, a very dark one at night. Every fare is fixed before you travel: no meter, and the number does not move for traffic or the hour.

  • Ercan Airport → Bafra: about 60 minutes, 80 km, £80 one way (£145 return) — route and price detail
  • Larnaca Airport → Bafra: about 90 minutes, 110 km, £120 one way (£220 return) — route and price detail
  • Paphos Airport → Bafra: about 2 hours 55 minutes, 230 km, £240 one way (£430 return) — route and price detail

Ercan is the closest airport and the obvious choice if you are flying via Turkey. If you have a direct European flight, Larnaca usually gives the better connection and the drive north is straightforward. Paphos sits at the far western end of the island — a long run, but done in one vehicle without changes. The hotels, and getting dropped at the right door

The Bafra properties are genuinely large: private beaches, more than one entrance, long internal driveways. Saying "the Bafra hotels" is not enough — we need to know which one. The addresses we serve are:

  • Kaya Artemis Resort & Casino — the best-known on the strip, main entrance set well back from the road
  • Noah's Ark Deluxe Hotel & Spa — a wide campus with reception on its own wing
  • Concorde Luxury Resort — a long approach road through the grounds
  • Limak Cyprus Deluxe Hotel — at the end of the strip, with its own private entrance

Give us the hotel name when you book and your chauffeur stops at the correct reception, not at the nearest barrier. When someone asks for a Kaya Artemis airport transfer, we record it as a specific door, not as an area. On a hot afternoon or at one in the morning, that detail is the whole difference.

Late-night arrivals

A large share of flights into Ercan land late in the evening, some after midnight. For Bafra that is exactly when being unmet hurts most — you do not want to be negotiating an hour-long drive outside the terminal at that hour. We track every flight: if you are delayed, your driver waits for the new landing time, your included waiting time is not shortened by the delay, and your fare does not change. The same applies if baggage reclaim drags. Our Ercan Airport arrival guide walks through what happens step by step after you land.

Coming from the south: the border crossing

If you land at Larnaca or Paphos, you cross the Green Line into the north on the way. It is the part guests ask about most and in practice the simplest part of the journey: you stay in the vehicle, passports are checked, and it takes a few minutes. There is no crossing fee charged to passengers on the Republic of Cyprus side, nothing for you to pay beyond the driver's vehicle insurance, and we add no surcharge to the transfer price for it. Our border crossing guide covers how the drive north from Larnaca works; the visa and passport guide covers the paperwork side.

Getting out and about during your stay

Bafra hotels contain everything you need, which is comfortable — but it also means there is no taxi idling outside when you decide to leave. We arrange local journeys at fixed prices throughout your stay:

  • Famagusta old city — the walls, Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque and the harbour cafés; half a day is enough (Famagusta guide)
  • Karpaz Golden Beach — the long sand at the tip of the peninsula, and the wild donkeys; allow a full day (Karpaz guide)
  • İskele / Long Beach — restaurants, shopping and a livelier seafront evening (things to do at Long Beach)
  • Salamis ancient city — just north of Famagusta, directly on the road out of Bafra

You can plan these when you book, or arrange them during your holiday through the booking form. The price is agreed before you set off, and you are never left waiting for a ride home.

Group and family transfers

Most guests coming to Bafra arrive as families or in groups: plenty of luggage, often a child seat, sometimes three generations travelling together. Our standard car comfortably takes four passengers with normal suitcases. For larger groups or extra bags we arrange a Vito-type minibus; the minibus fare is not on the fixed price list for the Bafra routes, so tell us your group size and suitcase count and we will come back with the vehicle options and an exact price. Child seats just need a note on the booking, and if your group arrives on two different flights we set up two separate meets.

Frequently asked questions

How long is Ercan to Bafra, and what does it cost?

Around 60 minutes and 80 kilometres. The fixed one-way fare is £80, or £145 return. The figure is agreed before you travel and does not change for traffic or a night-time landing.

The hotel offers its own transfer — what's the difference?

Hotel shuttles usually combine several flights: even if you land early, the vehicle waits for other guests and then calls at each hotel on the strip in turn. With us the car is yours alone, you leave as soon as you are through, and you stop at your own reception.

Do you cover a flight landing at 02:00?

Yes. Night transfers are routine on the Bafra run and there is no night surcharge. Give us the flight number, we track the landing and meet you at the actual arrival time.

Can I book the return transfer now as well?

Yes, and we recommend it — finding a car out of Bafra on your last morning is the hard part. Booked together the total is lower (£145 for Ercan). The return direction is listed as its own route too: Bafra hotels to Ercan Airport.
