Ercan (ECN) is North Cyprus's own airport — small, calm and only a short drive from Nicosia, Kyrenia and Famagusta. If you're flying in via Istanbul or another Turkish hub, this is where your holiday really begins. Here's how a typical arrival unfolds, from the runway to your hotel door — and how we help you get around afterwards.

Passport control

Ercan is rarely crowded, so it's one of the quickest airports on the island to clear. Most visitors are through passport control in ten to fifteen minutes; you'll be asked for your passport and are usually given entry on arrival with no advance visa, for stays of up to 90 days. If you'd rather keep your passport clean, officers will stamp a separate slip instead — just ask, it's routine.

Luggage and the terminal

Ercan's new terminal is bright and easy to navigate, with quick, clearly signed baggage reclaim and free trolleys. You'll find car-rental desks, a currency exchange, a pharmacy and a few cafés, but the building is compact enough that you won't get lost or lose your driver. Step out of the baggage hall and the arrivals meeting point is right in front of you.

Money and a SIM card

The local currency is the Turkish Lira, though many hotels, restaurants and drivers also accept euros and sterling. It's worth changing a small amount at the airport for incidentals and tips. If you want data the moment you land, pick up a local SIM (Turkcell or KKTCELL) from the desk in arrivals — bring your passport, as registration is required.

Where we meet you

Your chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall opposite the exit doors, holding a sign with your name. We track your flight from departure, so a delay never shortens your included waiting time and there's no rush on your side. No calls, no searching — walk out, look ahead, and we're there.

How far to your hotel

Ercan is central, so most journeys are short:

  • Kyrenia (Girne): about 35 minutes
  • Famagusta (Gazimağusa): about 40 minutes
  • İskele / Long Beach: about 45 minutes
  • Güzelyurt (Morphou): about 50 minutes

Every route has a fixed fare agreed before you travel — no meter, and your driver takes you to your exact hotel reception, not the nearest junction.

Getting around during your stay — local rides

The service doesn't stop at check-in. We also handle şehir içi (in-town) and around-the-island journeys at fixed local prices — an evening on Kyrenia harbour, a day at a casino hotel, a university drop-off, a hospital or pharmacy run, or a trip out to Famagusta or the Karpaz. Do I need a visa to land at Ercan?

Most nationalities receive entry on arrival with no advance visa, for up to 90 days. Bring a valid passport; a stamp can go on a separate slip if you prefer.

Can I pay the driver in euros?

Yes. Euros and sterling are widely accepted alongside the Lira, and your transfer fare is fixed in advance either way.
